OK …….. “VALLEY” Movie Night Was A Success!

Posted by Miss Ross | Favorite Campy Movies, OK ........ The Divine Hackberrys!, Valley Of The Dolls | Monday 6 September 2010 11:40 am

HAYYYYYYYY!!  My first official movie night with the Hackberrys and Company was a great success!  The ladies brought appetizers, utensils and desserts, while Mr. Roscoe and I provided the pizza and drinks.

To kick off what I hope will be a growing trend of movie nights at Wood-De-Haven, I chose one of my top 5 favorite films of all time.  The one that reeks of camp, smut, glamour, incredible gowns, bad lyp synching, terrible dialogue and fantastic hair .. in other words, everything that is Call Him Miss Ross .. VALLEY OF THE DOLLS!  I love, love and one more time, love this film.  And even though I have the seen this monstrosity more times than allowed by the law [and know the dialogue], it was a great thrill exposing it the Hackberrys, since only one or two actually saw the film years ago.

Thank you ladies for a laughter filled night!  And remember, "Lawrenceville will be there forever!"

Call Him Miss Ross!

OK ………. Shout Outs To Promises, Miss Sharon, Queen Cindi And A Tired Old Queen At The Movies!

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. Class!  Time for some SHOUT OUTS!!

1.  HELLO!!  Where have I been??  I just found out that PROMISES, PROMISES is coming back to Broadway, starring Sean Hayes and Kristen Chenoweth!  I am so loving the mid 60's publicity poster.  The early to mid 60's is my absolute favorite era for fashion, art, furniture and course, to die for HAIR!  We are talking VALLEY OF THE DOLLS hair people!  I hope that the producers and director keep with the swinging 60's vibe!  And having Sean Hayes and that incredible Ms. Chenoweth voice ……..

2.  And speaking of voices, I want to send a huge shout out to my friend and vocal powerhouse, Sharon "Shae" Nesbitt, whose double single, "Write The Vision" and "Got To Move," can be found on i-tunes.  People, this woman can SANG!!  My "Sistah," keep the faith and I am ready for your upcoming album!

3.  Now you readers know how I hate to be late!  HA!  I'm not late, just making a well timed entrance!  However, I am late in sending a birthday shout out to my friend, Queen Cindi, Ruler of the Hackberrys!  Cindi's birthday was this past Monday, 2/1.  Happy Birthday Your Majesty!

And one final shout out for a Tired Old Queen:

4.  People!  You must check out Steve Hayes aka "Tired Old Queen At The Movies," on You Tube.  This man is a walking library regarding movies, actors, directors, and studios from the 1930's to the 1950's.  Steve recommends one movie and then gives you the entire dish on what happened backstage.  Besides Miss Ross, divas and the 60's, I love the "Golden Age of Hollywood."  Not only is Steve incredibly knowledegable, but he's also hilarious.  Check out his videos!

Showtime Synergy!

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. Bring it to the FREAKIN' runway!!  Tonight, I discovered that you could buy the movie, VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, on I-tunes!!  When did this happen?  And damn I'm glad that it did!  Yes, I have the DVD, but now I can take VALLEY anywhere [along with fave movie #2, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA .. Hatsumomo!].

VALLEY is my all time favorite good/bad/campy/watch over and over movie of all time!  Even surpassing Miss Ross in MAHOGANY ["What do you call something dark, rich and beautiful?  You call it Mahogany!].  By the way, I-tunes, thanks for having THE WIZ [as awful as it is], but now it is time for LADY SINGS THE BLUES and MAHOGANY.

Back to VALLEY .. if you haven't seen it, do so immediately.  And then watch the making of documentaries, which include Alonso Duralde!

I'm downloading now!

Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice ……..
