OK …….. Is It Just Me? Or 7 Questions?

Posted by Miss Ross | OK ........ Just A Few Random Thoughts | Wednesday 3 March 2010 12:55 am

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. I have some crazy thoughts rambling around my brain, and wanted to know …….. Is It Just Me?

1.  Has any else noticed that Betty White's career has really taken off since the other Golden Girls have either passed away [Bea and Estelle] or are in recovery [Rue]?  Coincidence or is the country about to experience Betty-Mania?

2.  Did anyone actually buy, listen and enjoy Rihanna's album, RATED R??  I bought, I listened and I have to yet to enjoy.  And her record company keeps on putting out videos.  Rihanna girl, I loved "Take A Bow" and "Unfaithful, " what happened?

3.  Does anyone actually believe Atlanta Housewife, Kim Zolciak, has gone sappho and will soon be joining her sisters on Wonder Woman's island?

4.  This past weekend, the news analysts and their experts were trying to explain why Tiki, the killer whale at Sea World, went bonkers and attacked his trainer.  Well, it turns out that Tiki had attacked previous trainers.  HELLO!  Tiki ain't happy!  He knows he's living in cramped quarters, he knows that the kids and Mariah love the dolphins move than him, and he really knows he's only there for stud.  I'd have a bad day as well.  It is time to let Tiki go.

5.  The news media continues to state that the nation is experiencing a recession.  However, why I am constantly bombarded with weight loss / exercise machine commercials?  Or worse yet, Valerie Bertinelli?  One thing about diet food .. it ain't cheap!

6.  Has anyone noticed that Chile's earthquake seems to be receiving a whole lot less attention that Haiti's?  Do you think the nation is experiencing tragedy overload and needs to focus on Kate Gosselin joining Dancing With The Stars?  Amazing what a set of hair extensions can accomplish!

7.  I know that I will be in the minority for this opinion, but …….. why couldn't those celebrities who were so passionate about Haiti, focus on the problems at home?  How about funding needy schools or paying the bills for a family that is about to go homeless?  I just would like to see these "stars" help those in their own backyard first.

OK …….. While The Diva Has Been Away!

HAYYYYY!!  OK, ok …….. I know that the Diva has not posted since 12/31/09, but I have a good reason – sort of.

From last Sunday [1/10] thru last Friday [1/15], I was travelling thru southern Cali-Forn-I-A for business!  The home of movie stars, swimming pools, and papa, papa, paparazzi!  These days, however, all the Californians discuss the bankrupt state government, immigration and the unbelievable cost of living.  Yes, San Diego is nice, but $1500 a month for a studio apartment?

The weather? Great!  San Diego? Great, would love to go there on vacation.  Move to California?  Not on your life!

Anyway, what has been going on during my little blog break ……..

1.  HAITI – My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti.  But you know me …….. This country is experiencing massive destruction, lack of water, homelessness AND STILL neither Anderson Cooper [CNN] nor Bryan Williams [NBC] look like they working in third world conditions.  How is this possible?  How did the tv crews get into the country with relative ease, while the relief efforts are taking forever to land?  And why do the newsmen ask the stupidest questions?  "Excuse me, you just lost your home and family, how are you feeling?????"

2.  I have stated many times that my favorite i-tunes podcast is GAY PIMPIN WITH JONNY MCGOVERN, starring Jonny, Linda James, Martin Beauchamp and Erika Toure Aviance.  These fantastic creatures of underground New York nightlife have made me laugh and feel proud since 2006.  In fact, I recently wrote to Jonny about his great new video, "Bossy Bottom," and the diva received a response back!

Well, last Tuesday, Jonny and the crew announced that they would be ending the current podcast.  Jonny [who is a regular on THE BIG GAY SKETCH SHOW] is moving to LA, Linda is going back to school, Martin has work and family commitments, and Erika is riding the waves of "My Pumps."  Gang, I'm going to really miss you [although I can go back and listen to the 175+ free episodes].  In this pre-packaged pop world, you brought back individuality!

3.  Thanks to the encouragement of my neighbor, Lady Diana, I decided to join a gym near work today.  In the past, I've had success and failures with gyms.  However, the fee is very small, there was no long term contract, and many of my neighbors are members.

4.  In less than two days, The Pink Diva and I see THE VOICE, Ms. Mariah!

OK …….. DIVA Say Nay-Nay To The Glamour Camper: Today’s Trip To Target!

Posted by Miss Ross | OK ........ Just A Few Random Thoughts | Wednesday 28 October 2009 11:25 pm

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. Had to run by Target tonight after work.  You could almost feel those "bullseye" employees sweeping all the Halloween merchandise out the back door.  Two weeks ago, the store had devoted 5 or more cramped aisles to costumes, candy and "stuff."  Today, you were lucky to have three rows, all with minimal merchandise.  Target slow down!  You'll have your chance in two days!  Be patient!  Besides, I find it a little odd to be looking at Halloween candy while hearing Sinatra's Christmas album blasting from the kiosk behind me.  And news flash from the planet of DUH, Thanksgiving deserves more than half an aisle in the stationary section.

Anyway, while I was meandering around the store, my eye caught sight of the above photographed "Barbie Glamour Camper."  Closer inspection of the box, revealed that Barbie was claiming this camper was the updated version of her classic 1970's "Country Camper."  Uh Barbie, don't make me get all ghetto on your plastic butt!  But that ain't like your "Country Camper," just a cheap imitation!

You see, I wanted the "Country Camper" during the 70s!  I loved the yellow/brown/green colors that were such a part of the 70's color scheme.  I loved the pop-out tent, I loved the rear view window, I loved the sliding piece of plastic used to get into the camper, etc.  As the box below states, "A Home For Barbie Whenever She Explores The Great Outdoors – The Swinginest Camper On Wheels!"  I LOVE THAT .. The Swinginest Camper!

Barbie, what the doritos [cool ranch] is a "glamour camper?"  There ain't nothing glamourous about camping, even if you ARE Barbie.  And why do Ken, Skipper and yourself look like Japanese anime?  This cheap imitation smells like something "Cindy," your half wit competition sold exclusively at Sears during the 70's, might be seen driving around town.

Barbie, I WANTED the 70's camper, but since all things Barbie were out of the question growing up, I had settle for "Big Jim's Sports Camper" [below].  It might not have been the swinginest mobile home, but for a diva with a great deal of imagination ……..

Moral of the story?  If the classic ain't broke, don't update for 2009!

OK …….. At The Beach!

Posted by Miss Ross | OK ........ Just A Few Random Thoughts | Wednesday 7 October 2009 1:03 pm

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. Fabulous readers, Call Him Miss Ross has been enjoying an incredible vacation at the beach.  I would have blogged earlier, but was having trouble finding a working computer, logging on [thanks for the help DIVA OF PINK], and other interruptions.  Anyway, having a great time, but heading home tomorrow.

I've done a great deal of thinking about my home, my job, and even this blog.  During these "contemplative" times [cue soap opera music], two quotes have stayed at the forefront:

"That I realized that I just shouldn't give a poop.  It'll annoy me one second and then I won't care later." – DIVA OF PINK!

And for those times, when I feel completely out of touch with everyone around me:

"Gay humor is so sophisticated, a lot of times people who are not as sophisticated really don't get it.  They can easily get offended." – RuPAUL

OK …….. This, That And WHERE Is THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE Playing?

Posted by Miss Ross | OK ........ Just A Few Random Thoughts, Uncategorized | Saturday 5 September 2009 12:28 am

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. I have been "under the weather" for the past few days, even left work on Thursday morning since I was feeling a mess.  I apparently have this cold / congestion "thing" that is making it's way through Atlanta / Georgia.  It starts with the head, then the nose, to the throat and now the cough.  At any minute, I expect to hear the theme song for A LOVE STORY, followed by Ali McGraw telling me, "Love means never having to say you're sorry."

Onto other topics …….. I am still LOVING the REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA!  Since my last post, I have found out that Kim Zolciak actually lives near my condo, and that she shops at my grocery store [this fact is from a neighbor who works at the store and has seen Kim in the produce section].  I am determined to meet this woman.  I have joined her Facebook page, etc.

But before you think I've gone all stalker, I did pass up one opportunity on Wednesday night, 9/2, when she made an appearance at Blake's to promote her t-shirts and dance single, "Tardy For The Party!"

I like the fact that Kim is an entrepreneur!  She actively updates her website and blog, she is making the talk show circuit, etc.  You gotta work it and promote yourself, because nobody else will!

Finally, has anyone seen THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE, and when is it coming to Atlanta??  I have been hearing about this movie all summer long, but I can not find one theatre in Atlanta [or the surrounding suburbs] where it is being shown.  Now you know the diva loves himself some high fashion, Anna Wintour and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA!  Besides, the movie is getting great reviews!

OK …….. Just A Few Random Thoughts: 5/27/2009

Posted by Miss Ross | OK ........ Just A Few Random Thoughts | Wednesday 27 May 2009 10:43 pm

HAYYYYY!!  OK …….. Just a few random thoughts for Wednesday, 5/27/2009:

1.  Lt. Dan Choi .. You have become a HUGE hero to me!  You came out on tv, and now champion gay rights throughout America.  And yet, you still would like to go back to the military which threw you out for being gay!  AMAZING!  You are a West Point graduate, founder of Knights Out [for gay service men and women], an arabic translator [hello military, don't we need talented individuals like Lt. Choi?], and since I am Call Him Miss Ross, damn fine looking as well!

I tried to find a picture of Lt. Choi in his black "Don't Hide" t-shirt, but no luck.  Anyway, Lt. Choi, you are an inspiration!

2.  That dumbass bitch Carrie "Goody-Goodie" Prejean was on Fox News this morning, just gloating about Prop 8 being upheld.  She sounds/acts/looks so stupid!  I would love for Vanessa Williams to bitch slap that dumbass sometime!

3.  Ok, I am not a huge fan of Sophie Ellis Bextor, but I AM LOVING her new song with the Freemasons, HEARTBREAK!!!!!!!!  Does anyone know if this has been released in the US?
